“Okay, Raina, lunchtime!”

Wiping his hands on a paper towel, David walked into his living room and looked around.

“Colby, where’s Raina?”

Turning from the T.V., Colby quickly scanned his surroundings looking for the familiar head of curls that belonged to Ian and Nikki’s four-year-old daughter. He met David’s eyes and shrugged. “The bedroom?”

Frowning, David moved to check his bedroom.

“Is she in here?” Colby asked, leaning against the doorway.

“No.” David scratched his head. “When was the last time you saw her?”

“Fifteen minutes ago, give or take.”

David shot Colby an incredulous look. “Fifteen minutes? Colby she’s four, you have to constantly keep an eye on her!”

“I thought she was in the bedroom playing with her dolls!” Colby exclaimed raising his hands. “Look, she has to be somewhere in this apartment, we’ll find her.”

Ten minutes of searching the hall closet, bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen turned up empty.

Flopping down on the couch, David put his head into his hands. “Where is she?”

Falling down next to David, Colby shook his head. “Nikki and Ian are going to kill us.”

“Uncle David, I’m hungry.”

Whipping around, David and Colby stared in shock as Raina stood behind the couch, her Barbie doll clutched in her hands.

Jumping up, David gathered her in his arms. “Raina, where have you been? We were worried sick.”

“Looking for cookies.” She answered simply, resting her head on his shoulder and pouting slightly. “Daddy can find things better than me.”

Sharing a confused but relieved glance with Colby, David shook his head and walked into the kitchen, placing her at the table.

“Well,” Colby started, small smirk on his face. “She might not have her father’s talent of finding things, but she definitely has his ability to appear out of thin air.”
