i want to start keeping a small journal of the books ive read, because i have been tearing through so much stuff and i want a record for some reason of my having read it. i just finished shirley chisholm's unbought and unbossed and it was phenomenal, and have now moved on to mary catherine bateson's composing a life. over the weekend, megan and i went to charis, which will now probably become a regular stop for me because it was so awesome. i love places like that where upon walking in you know you feel comfortable immediately. dear charis, thank you for being a haven for feminists.
in other news, my forecast for this week from michael lutin is totally correct. and that is why i need to go to bed right now.
This is not a glamorous moment, but the recipe for success is simple. 1. Stay healthy. go to bed earaly. eat decent proper food and try to stay off the hard stuff, or wean yourself away from crutch garbage. You've got to be frosty and fresh and you can't be goofy if you want to stay on top now and you have to stay on top. 2. Work like a demon. 3. You can party but only after work hours and before midnight.
If people only knew that inside you are more dedicated than ever to doing heaven's work and at the same t ime suffering deeply over personal issues you can't tell anyone about with the exception maybe of your shrink or clergyman. But even then the story goes back way further than anybody has the time to listen. Still this is your heart we are talking about, so let's hope somebody hears you crying in the wilderness.
Family responsibilities? you've got 'em up the wazoo and although they hold you back from roaming the countryside and spreading your good word, you just can't escape 'em now. If you are one of the higher minded Tauruses, you are not just makiing deals with Chinese business men and learning when to bow, you are searching for a better ethical standard to live by. Truth, however, is relative, and you don't own it. All you own is what's in your head., so guard against getting narrow minded and becoming like the people you preach about.
