Situation Update

Hey kids;

Got home a few minutes ago. Here's the scoop on my gunthar.

He's a hell of a lot better now than he was last night. Thank you, all of you, for getting him the help he needed and thinking good thoughts for his recovery.

For those out of the loop: I was at Fringe. He couldn't find his phone, was in a lot of pain, and sent an SOS on LJ. Friends sent out the word for rescue, got a hoid of me, and got an ambulance that took him to the hospital.

I tracked him down at Fairview-Riverside (instead of his/our usual Fairview-University). He had chosen not to be medicated so he can speak with a clear mind, and he was in very poor shape when I reached him. I discussed the situation with the doctor, got the possibilities and prognosis, and got him medicated.

(a) Possibility that he has appendicitis, (b) possibility he has a kidney stone that doesn't show up on scans, (c) possibility that his recent problems with constipation has aggravated the damaged areas done in the many surgeries he has had removing 22 years of kidney stones. Most likely, (c) is the culprit.

At about 2:00 this morning, he was transferred to Fairview-University. Now, we wait and see what happens. His labs didn't show any problems, and appendicitis has been mostly ruled out. If if the situation improves, I'll take him home tonight. If things stay the same, we'll probably explore other options and he'll stay another night.

I called the Fringe (we've both been volunteering a lot) and threw out today's shifts and Gunthar's shifts tomorrow. The plan is for him to take it easy tomorrow and to take his shifts on Sunday, simply because his time doing photography has been a fantastic experience for him.

Now, I'll take my pills and change clothes, then deposit the check I found that my mother sent me. She just saved my ass, and now I can put gas in the car and buy some groceries. She thought, in fairness for the help she gave my sister, that I could use some help. The timing couldn't have been better. Thanks, Mom!

My husband is, at least, comfortable. Our friends are wonderful people. I can keep afloat financially.

I am grateful. Thank you.
