mind-blowing
Children of Men is absolutely mind-blowing. I have not seen a movie as beautifully shot, as rich and convincing in detail and as overwhelming in quite some time. And I do watch a lot of movies. The mis-en-scene, the cinematography... it sucks you right into this England of 2027. Where all men are infertile and thus mankind faces extinction, continental Europe has sunken into chaos, England detains refugees (every refugee is illegal) in special anarchic cities, and everybody can quickly become an extremist or terrorist.
Cannot really say anything more right now, but I wanted to say just that. I will cheat just a little bit and call it my favourite movie of 2006.
It is hard to think positive just now, still, have a good year 2007, all of you.
