I am NOT saying I like the changes.

I am not saying I would still plan to buy a permanent account, though I will mention here that I had planned to until the last round of LJpwner stoopid which changed my mind ( Read more... )

I hear ya!

I am frustrated that the powers that be in LJCorporateWorld do shit and then hide shit and then lie like shit, but hey, it is their company, I just rent space here. If I get that fed up with the landlord, I will eventually go elsewhere, but for now, I guess I will put up with the barking dogs and the broken trash compactor... so to speak, because I like my neighbors and the pool parties. ;)

Ok, this is the second reference to the strike I've read in someone's LJ. Apparently I don't read whatever it is that lets people know of such things as the strike. From what I can gather, we're all supposed to not post on Friday, right? Why, exactly? Do you know? What specific change/changes prompted this attitude, do you know ( ... )

Jumping in here, I'm supporting the strike. It's not just about doing away with the Basic Accounts, which IS a business decision. It's that they didn't announce it, ignored the advice of the Advisory Board-the people who were supposed to prevent these things from happening again-and when called on it, claimed they did away with the Basic Accounts to make it easier for new registrations ( ... )

Hmmmm..... removing Interest searches? That seems kind of... stupid. I will look into this more. Friday is my day off, so honestly, I doubt I would be posting anyway, but I'm still interested in what's going on.

The point of striking (as I see it) is to show them we CAN hurt LJ financially. Their advertisers won't pay as much if LJ has less subscribers. If we show we can strike together, then we can leave together in enough numbers to make them go "ouch". Hopefully, striking will help insure we don't have to leave, which would be inconvenient, at minimum.
Also, if we can get a little bad publicity going, as happened before, LJ will back down, as they did before. Six Apart ended up selling damaged goods because of their mismanagement and the ensuing "stink". Let's hope the new Russian owners will learn from that. So I encourage everyone to join the strike. It's really more like customers boycotting a product, than a strike, and boycotts have indeed been successful.

I understand the spirit of the thing, I do not have faith that the current pwnerlords give a shit. And I go days and days at a time without content, so my stiking is really not contributing to the power of the people here.

Well, my theory is that it is always about the money, so if we show that we can hurt them financially they might care. They are already backing down on some of the stuff.
Or maybe I'm just angry because of all that time I had to spend in elementary school hiding under my desk with my arms covering my head because the Russkies were going to drop an atomic bomb on us. So this is my revenge, ahahahaha!

"this is my revenge, ahahahaha!"

*snerk*

I am certainly not saying SUP&CO don't piss me off. Perhaps this is the clueXfour showing my that I have become way too complacent in the face of continual screwedoverness. *sigh*

The truth is that I may well not post on Friday if only because I have plans that night. Sad that rather than taking part in the boycott, I will be too busy to post anyway.

But hey, at least that means I have a real life outside of LJ, right?

;)

(sorry for delayed reply, had to actually work today)
