Books of the future

Okay so with all the work I've been doing, I was able to save a bit and spend some money on something I wanted for myself. As you know, I've been wanting this for quite a while. I went to Barnes and Noble on Saturday and got a Nook!

I have to say, I totally love it. Seriously. It's awesome. I already read an entire 400 page book and I'm about 60 pages into a second book.

When I went to the store, the guy who helped me, Brandon was fucking awesome. He was amazing. Like... I went in just to look. Seriously. I hadn't really thought I'd buy it. But he was great. He answered all my questions, gave me lots of good points and he was just cool. Like I instantly felt like we were pals. Like just friends talking about something. He was a comfortable person to talk to and I totally value that in the retail world. I didn't feel like he was trying to convince me of anything. He was just giving me the information I wanted and just being super cool. lol

He explained to me the 14 day return policy. If I didn't like the wifi model, I could bring it back for the 3G model. Or if I just didn't like it, I could just return it, but at least I'd really get to know it and if I want it. He explained the protection plans, showed me accessories and demonstrated the floor model.

I decided I really just had $150 that I could spend on the wi-fi model. You couldn't download books from *anywhere* with it. You had to be in a wifi hotspot. No big deal, I could just download the books at home with my wireless internet.

So, Brandon rang me up for the $150 model and we talked music and stuff. I told him I was going to make him a mix cd haha. I pretty much never go to the mall, so even though I said I'd come back and stuff I'm not 100% sure I will, but it was fun.

So I went home and did that little unboxing you saw. So then... well, then I tried to set it up. I tried a few times. It wasn't working! Grr. It popped up a number and I called it. The guy had me try a few things, but nothing seemed to work. Then he asked what kind of router I had. I told him it was an apple airport and I read him the model number. He suddenly goes "ohhhh... well. That's a wireless n router."

I waited for an explanation, but there was nothing. So I said "Okay..?"

He then basically said it wasn't compatible. Fawk.

So then I'm walking up and down the halls of my building waving this thing around trying to steal someone's internet to register the thing so I could use it.

I ended up getting really frustrated and then just decided, screw it, I will go spring the extra $50 because I can't even use this thing the way I want to in my house anyway.

So I drive all the way back to the mall and ask if I can deal with Brandon again since he was so awesome. He came out and was, again, super freaking awesome and hooked me up with the $200 model. Then he let me take it out of the box and charge it a bit there and check out the features! I downloaded a few things and then went to the instore features and found out I could get free chocolate at the cafe by showing them the coupon on the screen. Bad ass. I went to the cafe, got my free chocolate, thanked Brandon again for being a badass and went on my way home.

I downloaded The Pawn from the free list and started reading. I read while I worked at the bar that night and I finished it the next day. It was a really good book. And it felt so natural to read on the Nook. I loved it. Today I started another book. Billy Boyle World War II Mystery. Also from the free section. I am loving it so far.

I think I'm going to read tons of books now that I have this and I love it.

You know what, I think I will make Brandon a mix cd. He deserves it.
