Nerd-Girl-in-Training, cookies, and a new cross-stitch pattern :)

Thanks so much to mod jacketpotato, who helped me figure out why my post wasn't posting and FIXED IT FOR ME! :)

So, I had a long weekend...not in time, unfortunately, it was the regular two-day weekend, but in that I had a lot of stuff that happened during those two days. I actually didn't think I'd have anything to share with you guys this soon, after completing the Doctor Who cross stitched kitchen towel...However, friday night, one of my closest friends and I got together and we drank a lot of (probably too much) wine...and we baked cookies. And talked about Firefly and Doctor Who and The Hunger Games and various other books (Patrick Rothfuss and The Kingkiller Chronicles, anyone?)...which led to baking sugar cookies, and since my friends Jessica and Jerald were having a party to reveal their daughter's finished geek room (Zelda themed...and she's only 19 months old!), I made some sugar cookies in the shape of Triforces...Of course, I forgot food coloring and Laura and I were too drunk to drive to the store by the time I remembered, so we fixed that for the most part with gold sprinkles and hard white frosting. They weren't as epic as I had hoped for, but for a drunken evening in the kitchen, I think they turned out well.

And, of course, the next day, I went to Jessica & Jerald's party to reveal the completed nerd-tastic room for their toddler, Micah. It was awesome-we got to be geeky and drink beer (which helped with the wine hangover, lol).

So, here's a picture of the cross-stitch I did for the room, completed and finally framed and on the wall (told you guys I'd post pictures of it!):

It's meant to be kind-of a teaser, because Jessica posted TONS of pictures on her blog, which is linked here: Dork on a Dime: The Great Zelda Room Reveal!

Also, because they did the toddler room pretty quickly in expectation of baby number two (a boy this time, to be named Rowan), I picked up a couple of outfits for the little guy and some toys and stuff, and because it didn't really have any dorky stuff in the present, I got wrapping paper to match the major colors in the Mario Nursery, so here is the package (wrapped by my mom because she makes such pretty bows!):

And, in case some of you guys missed it or don't remember it, here is a link to a "virtual tour" of the nursery on Jess's blog: Dork on a Dime: Super Mario Brothers Nursery

And because I can't finish a cross-stitch piece without starting another one, I made up my mind and finished the first sketch of my Harley Quinn/Joker piece. It's actually going to be a present for a friend-Probably a wall hanging because he loves stuff like that, and I can trim it pretty easily in some dark blue bias tape and put it on a dowel rod. Now, to find black bats (preferably made out of wood-I can paint them, so color really isn't a problem) to go on the ends of the rod-shouldn't be too hard with Halloween right around the corner!
