This is a sachet I made as a gift for a friend of mine. The black tassel is still in its sleeve so it could be shipped and still look nice upon arrival. I'm really happy how this turned out with the colors. :) My daughter made the purple braid from embroidery thread. The design is by Joan Elliot.
The back has a personal message from me to my friend.
This next is a Lord of the Rings cross stitch which will be my daughter's Christmas present. The characters are in the "pixel people" line of designs by weelittlestitches on Etsy. I added the leaf border from a Better Homes and Gardens book of cross stitch designs, and I hand-charted the text in a backstitch font.
Yes, there are 2 stitches missing in this pic, I filled them in after I took the pic. ^^;;
The nine leaves are for the nine companions of the Fellowship and for Lothlorien. Best of all, this will fit exactly into an 8x10" display, which means standard sized frame/mat.
Lastly, this is the phoenix. It took almost an entire skein of thread all by itself. The thread used is Egyptian Giza cotton #47 red from Anna Maria's "Radiant" set, which
iceraptoress gave me as a Christmas present last year. ^_^ Shorthand: super nice brilliant red thread!
The fabric is the turmeric fabric I hand-dyed myself. There are some mistakes in the pattern but, hey, you don't notice, right? ^_~
I got the pattern off Etsy (I don't remember the seller's name). The pattern was originally a colorway of red to yellow, but obviously that wasn't going to fly here. Even orange disappeared into the fabric color. I think the solid red on brilliant yellow looks great. :D
Xposted like whoa.
