Happier January: A New Hope

Jan 04, 2024 16:42

Today, I've been thinking of what gives me hope today.

1: Jesus, as always, constantly trusting in Him;
2: The fact that Coronavirus did not result in the apocalypse;
3: Just the general kindness in others (even though sometimes it is hard to see); and
4: This article is really good for ramblers, all about how our coastal path is nearly complete.

I went out on a recce this morning; despite it being quite muddy, I got on okay, though I did manage a couple of wrong turns going through a local nature reserve, which was like a maze of paths.

I had a pub stop half-way through; I spotted four coasters on the table that I'd chosen, but was disappointed to see that they were just advertising Schweppes lemonade, which probably wouldn't look that impressive at this month's "coaster off". Other tables had better-looking coasters, but also people sitting at them, so I wasn't about to start taking those ones while taking ten minutes to explain the whole "coaster off" deal.

I finished the recce with another pub stop before getting the train home.

On Strava I have completed the January 5K X Brooks Challenge, and would have managed the January 10K Challenge, had my watch not ended the first Strava recording when I stopped at the pub.

I have also logged:
* 4 hours and 33 minutes for January Jumpstart with WHOOP;
* 5 hours and 41 minutes for the F & F 500 Challenge, January 400-Minute Challenge, and January Fresh Start Challenge;
* 255m of climbing for the January Running Elevation Challenge; and
* 26km for the January Walk 30K Challenge.
