In 2008, Darren Ferguson (son of Sir Alex) got Peterborough United promoted to Football League One; still the third tier, but quite a big thing back then. Ferguson has been sacked a few times, but is now on his fourth spell as manager.
I travelled up to Peterborough to see the players on their open top bus parade. My only regret was later on being too star struck to speak when I saw Aaron McLean approaching me, and then Darren Ferguson with his wife and kids.
