I'll start with the gross - I was going to cook up some conchiglie pasta last night; my system for storing pasta is to put as much as I can into an airtight container, and leave the rest in a bag, tied up tightly with a food tie, which should keep it fresh.
My container was nearly empty, so I grabbed the mostly full, and tied up, packet, to get some extra, and then I saw that the packet contents were completely inedible.
I don't know how this had happened - I saw no sign of damp in the cupboard, but most of the pasta was mouldy, and had turned black/green; I had to chuck it and make up the difference with spaghetti instead.
It's been suggested that I held the packet over a boiling pot while pouring the pasta in, which I'm certain I didn't do, so it's a mystery how it ended up like that. It was well in date as well.
Today has been another stay-at-home day for me; a bit boring I know, but sometimes it's nice to just chill at home, and not make plans for later, as that leads to constant clock watching and thinking about how much free time I have left before I have to dash out.
I did fitness this morning; not a lot because I was still feeling Thursday night's walk; I recorded 17 minutes towards the 3 hours 50 minutes required for the Strave Le Col Tour Challenge.
I entertained myself at home by building a fort, first time in my life I had done this.
It was a bit too snug for me really, and I dismantled it after a minute, mostly because one of the supports (my laundry basket) may have collapsed under my mattress.
I also started on a project I meant to try for ages; it's a board game. I won't give details of it here, since I wanted to make this a public post, and I don't want just anyone pinching my ideas. Maybe sometime when I've got it tested, and potentially registered the trademark for it!
I also played some more Earthbound, which is a game I've been replaying for the second time; it's this weird roleplaying game from the 1990s that I got into when I got my SNES mini, all about alien invasions; it's quite dark and twisted in places, but it's a game that I keep wanting to go back to.
I've still been spotting good things; today I've seen delivery vehicles stopping outside the back of the flats today; while I found it hard not to think how badly one of them had parked (in two residents' spaces) it's good that they're doing this, and helping people out. I think the badly-parked one was possibly meals on wheels, for the old lady who I think still lives here, although I hardly ever see her. If I had more confidence I'd knock on her door and ask how she was, but I'd be too nervous and reserved to do that.
