I'm looking for things to be grateful for in unexpected places today.
1: Beating FOMO
My friends started talking last week about meeting in person; at first I was on board, but I think that was mostly from FOMO. As the week went on, I thought, do I really need to in the middle of the week? I'd have to go into London for just an evening; I started weighing up the travel aspect, and the rail fare costs (I have no season ticket yet).
They messaged last night and suggested Parliament Hill, which isn't easy to get to from where I am without either a long walk or at least three trains, so I chose having a less busy evening over the FOMO. I do hope to meet them in person more often when I am back working in London, at least part time, which I expect to be in August now, as discussed at work.
See, I'm not just pining because I don't get to be with my friends.
2. Lockdown extension
Yes, it was inevitable, and at first I wanted the restrictions to end next week. Boris has extended it for another month, and I'm kind of grateful, just because of issues like the Delta variant, and how people go crazy just too easily - let's make sure we don't end up back at square one.
3. Continued opportunities to share online rather than trying to meet in person
Today was meant to be the last day of doing a skype prayer meeting online on Tuesdays, meaning I'd not really be able to take part until possibly when I'm back in the office, but the church decided to keep the prayer meeting online for the whole summer - I think they were worried the meeting would end up being just two people!
4. Surprises
I successfully bid for this Indiana Jones lego keyring in an online auction, and forgot about it - it arrived today!
My good thing today is the efficiency shown at the barber - that was a nice, quick haircut this morning.
