Sometimes the present can feel frustrating; I fall into the trap of comparing myself to other people I see, and wonder if I took a "wrong turn" in life; I worry that I am missing out on something.
I've been thinking of reasons to be optimistic about the future - frivolous one to begin with: Brentford FC got promoted to the premier league through winning the play off finals - they're not a club I follow, but I am definitely a fan of their star player, Ivan Toney, and I think he'll be a good choice for my fantasy football team next season.
On to the more serious choices:
1) Vaccine rollout
It seems to be going smoothly over here, and I trust that it will continue to do so; the end of lockdown is coming very soon, and I hope there will be no reckless behaviour that sends us back to square one.
2) Summer is just around the corner
Yes, that too - it felt like summer today; it's unusual to get nice weather on the bank holiday weekend.
3) Holidays
They are all booked for later this year, and I will really be glad when they are upon me.
On to my day:
Today was a good day for fitness, and I managed to finish the 30 day fitness challenge, which I took over a month to do because of not wanting to commit to doing it daily. I was just about managing with my routine this morning, with having eased gently about it, although day 26 saw a drastic increase in the amount of time I was doing planks/wall sits for.
I will need to keep up these standards, but not rigidly plan my morning routine, as it takes 5-10 minutes of planning at times; I like to be a bit spontaneous.
Today was also the last day of National Walking Month, and the 30 Minute Challenge, and I managed to have a 2 hour walk with the family; the only real issue was that we seemed to keep seeing this one family on our walk; we'd repeatedly realise they were suddenly behind us, even after we'd led them all overtake us.
The village nearby has a nice pond, which is always good for spotting aquatic birds.
I've also started a new strava challenge, the OTE Sports: Ride, Eat, Sleep, Repeat Challenge, and my activities before have completed just over half of the five hours required.
I'm still bummed about yesterday, but this has otherwise been a nice weekend.
