As an ex-librarian, I am a complete sucker for book sales with % off coupons. Therefore, this weekend I bought quite a few books at two Borders bookstores, including a couple of picture books for my niece and nephew's July birthdays, a couple of sci-fi/fantasy books, and the book "
what would Buffy do: the vampire slayer as spiritual guide", heh. The young sales girl didn't want to give me a discount for the Jim Butcher science fiction book (you could only use the discount for one type of book, and I'd already bought the non-fiction book (Buffy). She had to ask her colleague if the science fiction book counted as a fiction book. what??? I think she got thrown by the world science *shakes head*.
I also stumbled across the new Charlaine Harris book "
Dead in the family". I had been told that this wasn't being release in Australia until the 1 June, so it was a great find. This was the book I was ranting about that had bad ratings on Amazon. It was on sale too (yay). I started it this afternoon, and so far so good.
Australia has a charity morning tea tomorrow - raising funds for cancer research or something (to be honest I didn't take much notice). Our branch is taking part, though the last place I worked didnt. As I'm new to the branch, and still want to make an impression (!) I said I'd bring something along. I've made white chocolate fudge. I was going to make it coffee flavoured and add walnuts, but that seemed too much trouble. Instead I bought some mini M&Ms and have sprinkled them over the top. It looks great and I will be sure to keep some back fo myself :-) In fact, it's probably set enough for me to go and have a taste now, so off to the kitchen I go.
