Oh dear
At the intermission in the Eurovision 2nd semi final, the hosts spoke to a couple of Australians in the audience. They asked a couple which were their favourite acts. (It has to be said, the couple came across as a bit stilted). The woman said Lithuania because of the sparkly pants, and the man said that he thought he spoke for all Australians when he said that the "Netherlands song was very special"!
I actually liked the Netherlands entry - it was very catchy, and I also love how the Netherlands usually does their own thing, and doesn't try to mimic the same old tired power ballad that everyone else is doing.
During the intermission, we also got to preview the 5 countries who didn't have to perform in the semis...
I'd like to see the British guy singer hook up with the German girl singer ;-)
My favourites? I liked LIthuania (the sparkly pants, did it for me), and I loved Turkey. The Australian unofficial voting thus far put Turkey at No. 1, and Armenia at no. 2. Lithuania is currently placed at no. 4 (Australia loves a sparkly pant too).
There were far too many power ballads, and girls with shriek-y voices this round. Not to mention the interpretive dance - sorry, not a fan of intepretive dance.
edit: Lithuania didn't get through - oh no I am quite disappointed, as really enjoyed the music as well as the sparkly pants.
