A friend showed me an image of a tree from the southeastern United States, taken on a recent trip there.
From its habit (weeping) and its leaves, I'd say it's a willow, but it has bracts or catkins which look like bottle brushes, are a bit longer than an individual leaf, are nearly fuschia in color and which are pendant from the tip of the branch. I'll try to get a picture, later on, if the verbal description doesn't make an ID possible, but I'm hoping it sounds familiar enough to someone here that he or she can say what this beauty is because the photo isn't certain.
It's also possible that whatever this is, qualifies as a tall shrub rather than an actual tree.
Many thanks in advance!
ETA: Thank you for your comments and the very quick identifying of this tree/shrub. Y'all are wonderful!
