We moved to a new place shortly after the new year; discovering what flora the previous owners left us, has been an ongoing and interesting experience.
Last few days, usually while doing yardwork, I've had to wonder if there was a days-long children's party in effect - i.e., juice and candy flowing freely - or some neighbor had hit a pack of warm Jolly Ranchers with his lawn mower. Because that kind of smell (sweet and fruity, but REALLY potent!) has taken over our yard.

Flowers just emerged. Though living and new, they are hard and dry, as if pre-dehydrated for a dried flower arrangement.
Anyone have a clue what this is?
