I wanted to share with you my little succulent garden. At first, succulents in general really grossed me out (aloes excluded, as they're incredibly useful), but then I got a jade plant and the more I saw of the "split rock" and "baby's toes", the more they grew on me. So I figured I'd give them a try for myself this weekend. As you can see, I have two clumps of split rocks, a large clump of baby's toes, and I stuck a sempervivum in there to suck up extra water and to take over the planter in case anything goes wrong.
Which, of course, I'd like to avoid if possible. I designed and planted a miniature succulent garden planter for my mother for Mother's day, but she ran into some difficulty and one of the three split rocks in her clump rotted (I suspect my well-intentioned father watered them and pushed them over the edge). Do you have any advice or experience with these little guys you can share? I know that they'll only need water monthly (if that). Thanks!
