Skint Explore Jobs

Received my first (and probably last) payslip from my current employers today. At least it covers my first months rent. Problem is that is all it covers. I've only been paid for the total of 6 shifts, and if thats all i'm going to receive until next payday then i'm in the sh1t. I have 3 hundred or so quid savings to call on but being Jan/Feb time its car tax, and MOT time and thats going to dent that considerably.
Here's to Juz the Pauper for the next few weeks.

Its the first week of the Alpha equivalent "Explore" course tonight. Despite my present cynicism towards all things Godly, i feel drawn to go. The email i received from a lady there was really quite incredible. I sent her a copy of my blog on this (that i actually deleted soon afterwards). It was a passionate rant, containing swearwords and blasphemy, and in the back of my mind i guess i knew it was a test. She passed it with flying colours and then some.
On top of that i took a book to alleviate the boredom on my sleep shift yesterday - "The Fifth Mountain" by Paulo Coelho. Its an allegorical tale about the biblical character Elijah, who was a prophet. A passage in that book leapt out at me screaming "RELEVANCE", about how God will test us to the nth degree, and will indeed blatantly ignore our cries if necessary to evoke a passion. God is God and really doesnt mind our anger, even towards him. He forces us to CHOOSE our fate and not simply ACCEPT it. It was powerful reading.

And on top of that i indulged in a bit of channel flicking after my client had gone to bed and chose a particularly potent episode of truth from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstalls River Cottage series. In this episode they were catching fish, and striking them forcefully across the head to kill them, and he also took his guests to an abattoir to see how lamb came about from start to finish. I've got so much respect from HFW for his pure, no frills attitude to learning and showing people how food comes to be on their plate. In my opinion every meat eater should be visiting an abattoir (against their will if necessary). It was a stark and harsh reminder of the implications of my recent decision to become carnivorous once more.

It could be a co-incidence that i read that book last night and saw that TV last night. It could be hugely significant.

Going back to see my old boss tomorrow about the prospect of having my old job back. It's a simple enough deal, if they agree to cover my petrol money (about £140 per month) then i'll go. If they do agree to that, then i'll feel obliged to tell them about the council job i've also applied for and my intention to accept it should i be fortunate enough to get it. How far that is down the line i've really no idea at this stage but it's only right and proper to inform them of that beforehand. All i do know is that i've got to do something about getting out of my current job situation.
