Dinosaurs by post

I got a rather nice surprise in the post a couple of days ago: some Lego-compatible dinosaurs, courtesy of hobbitblue. I intended to take just two photos of the dinos, one before and one after construction to put on Instagram but I got a bit carried away... Which is easily done where Lego is involved.

So, here are the three dinosaurs all in pieces and still in their little plastic bags. There were only 7-8 pieces for each one so they were very easy to put together.

This is a Dilophosaurus, seen here in a particularly fetching shade of orange. I rather liked the shadow, I thought it was very effective. As you can see, it's perched on a Pokito collapsible cup, just as it would be in the wild.

These are Velociraptors, in what I can only imagine are completely realistic and well-researched shades of green and yellow. You can see that there's studs on the back of each one which I presumed were to allow them to be ridden by minifigures. Also the hands look like they'd be able to grip various Lego pieces. I thought I'd try and see what exactly they were able to hold.

They are quite capable of holding magical suitcases, perhaps stolen from a random magizoologist, although they're not quite so adept with a wand. "Expelliarmus!" says Harry. Naturally.

The Dilophosaurus quite suits being ridden by a cave woman, although it was not too sure about being attacked by a random Viking with a club. That's quite a mixed up timeline. The shield didn't seem to be too bad to hold but the axe is completely useless if you hold it sideways like that! Good job it's got those sharp teeth really.

This a pivotal scene in a forthcoming film for Phase Five of the MCU in which Wolverine and Deadpool team-up and go back in time to stop Loki doing something naughty. The Velociraptor seems to be having a little with Loki's sceptre and I'm pretty sure that is not something you want to argue with. Or get too close to. Wolverine seems quite happy but then again, he's probably more deadly than the dino is!

fun stuff in the post, blue, in which nathaniel is arty, photies, lego
