Turn the weather up to maximum

I am so glad that I got my errands done yesterday morning, rather than having to do them today. The weather today has been appalling. The North West has been on an Amber alert for flooding and high winds all of today - we're getting a month's worth of rain in 24 hours which is fun - tomorrow and Sunday, it drops down to a Yellow alert for flooding. And of course, the Olympic Torch is going through Lancashire this weekend! I feel sorry for the Torchbearers who are having to be out in these conditions.

I've been having fun watching the ever expanding lake that has appeared at the bottom of the garden over the past hour:

The garden slopes down away from the house so all the water gathers at the bottom there. I hope the plants have got their water wings on. It's not really clear in the picture, but the bottom of the greenhouse is already under water. It's currently got tomatoes in it, and they're in a growbag so hopefully, they won't get damaged.

Although I didn't have errands to do this morning, I did have to go out. Just before half-term, L had told me to ask N when I could pick up my work, so I asked him on Friday last week. He said, "Friday!" which I took to mean today. I left first thing this morning, and it was already raining hard then. I knew I'd have quite a bit of stuff to carry, so I went in the car. As it turned out, N wasn't in, and none of the work had been cross-marked so I couldn't have taken it anyway. I have no idea why L said I had to ask about getting it and neither did the teacher that I was asking. It was rather annoying, getting up early to drive all that way in horrible weather for no reason.

On a brighter note, I got a very nice parcel! When it was nice a couple of weeks ago, I decided to treat myself to one of the packs of Kool-Aid that I'd brought back from Boston. As it turned out, it was rather out of date so I had to ask my supplier for some more. And he was ever so happy to oblige, as you can see:

Five different flavours of Kool-Aid: Strawberry Lemonade, Black Cherry, Pink Lemonade, Berry Cherry, and Peach Mango. Two packs of each, except for the Pink Lemonade of which there is 4 packs. That should keep me going for a few weeks. Provided we get some summer in which to enjoy it. The Crayola is for college. I'd been trying to find skin tone markers for college but the only ones I could find were very expensive, until I found out that Crayola did them. Except not really in the UK. Seeing as ftmichael was sending me a parcel, I asked him to get me some. He managed to get me markers for college as well as coloured pencils which are just a bonus. And that blue thing there is a hand-knitted kippa courtesy of assiduous1 which is all kinds of awesome.

fun stuff in the post, michael, friends, photies, stereotypical english post about weather
