Penultimate day

Well, this afternoon turned out to be a complete waste of time! It was L's class but I had no work to do for it as I'd handed in my completed sketchbook and final outcomes on Monday. I'd actually asked L then if I needed to go in today but didn't get any answer so I thought I better had. L was mostly busy with the second years who are busy finishing off setting up the end of course art show so I did pretty much nothing for 2 hours and managed to go home early.

The rest of the class were busy trying to get their work done, no one else had finished apart from me. I found it amusing each time someone asked to see my final piece to be able to say that I didn't have it because I'd handed it in. And then to see their face. I was so glad that I'd finally got it finished, it had been such a horrendously long and labourious project.

In brief: we had to research 20 different art movements from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, and then use the information to create a timeline of art and graphic design aimed at young people. Rather than produce the entire timeline, we just had to concentrate on 4 pages, either A5 or A4. I decided to pick a different style from each century and make up the front cover as well.

We had recently studied David Carson in S's class so I decided to use his style for the layout and as it was about time, I gave it a Steampunk theme.

In my last report, L had said that I needed to produce several different outcomes so I created a second timeline. Seeing as it was supposed to be for young people, I made it brightly coloured and eyecatching, although I kept the David Carson style.

This design also featured a transparent cover which can't really be shown accurately here; it's the first section with the 'Time Line' title. Bizzarely, when I asked several members of my class for feedback on the two, the majority preferred the Steampunk one!

I'm really pleased with how they both turned out. L loves them and said that I should show them to an art gallery or something, I'm not entirely sure why. I also showed them to S, so he could see my attempt at a David Carson style - he was quite impressed and said I'd done a good job :D So tomorrow is the deadline for N's work. I only need to print out the game cover and mount the pictures and text on the storyboards. Hopefully, that shouldn't take me long. And then... with any luck... I will be all finished!
