Freebies galore

The universe seems to be trying to make up for recent crap deluge by sending me freebies. I really don't mind this at all. The first one came my way the other day by way of LibraryThing. They set up an Earlier Reviewer programme a few months ago; the premise is that LT has teamed up with publishers to provide advance copies of books to the members, in exchange for reviews. The publishers supply the books, the members get to read and review them, and LT plays matchmaker! I signed up for it straight away. Get books for free with the only requirement being that you review them? Yes, please. I don't just request every single book going though, because it has to be reviewed, I try and request books that I am interested in. I've not had any luck yet - until the other day when I got a notification e-mail telling me that I'd got a book! I was very pleased and most surprised. I eagerly went to check and see which book I'd been designated to receive and found out that it's Baby Love: An Affectionate Miscellany by Rachel Hale. I don't think that is going to be too hard to review! I don't think I'm going to want to keep it but that's okay because I'm sure I can think of one person who will be quite happy to take it off my hands. It can take up to 6 weeks to arrive but as soon as I've read it, the review will be going up on ganimede_vox.

The second thing came in the post today. I was most baffled to get a little jiffy bag and racked my brain trying to work out what it was. I hadn't bought anything recently and there wasn't anything I was expecting to come in such a tiny bag. The only indication on the package was the name Toluna which I recognised but couldn't think why. When I opened it up, I found a letter that said I'd been picked to test out a product and at that point I realised what Toluna is. It's one of those online research places that do polls and surveys, but it also has a product testing side as well. I generally sign up for all product testing going, whether it's a packet of gum, cereal, a USB heated coaster or an MP3 player. I was surprised that I didn't get any notification other than the package arriving but that's okay. So what product did I get to test out? A fridge deodoriser. It's not quite an MP3 player, is it? I mean, there's freebies and then there's freebies. The difference being the second ones are the ones you want.

In other news, I was playing Tony Hawk's Underground 2 today on my PS2. It has an option to design your own skater and as I was looking through the outfits available, I knew exactly what my skater was going to look like. I also made a suitable tag to spray about the place. Excuse the fuzzy pics, it's not easy taking a photo of the TV screen with the camera on my phone even if it's supposed to be 3.2 megapixels.
