It's the garden, you see.

Tim commented on some Kansas-like weather in his part of the world. Generally, t'ain't no big thang here - straight-line winds of that speed are par for the spring course, and anything that can blow over already has. Apparently Windows and MSIE are required for travelling Kansas roads.

The 511 service has a link for those of us who happen to use anything else, but it doesn't work any better than the IE-only link. They claim it points to a text list of road closures, but I get an empty page. Or more specifically, a closed connection.

Last night, the forecast said 2-4" of snow, with blizzardlike conditions, starting around midnight, ending around noon.

This morning, when the dog woke me up at 6:30 (as near as we can tell, the low-battery bleep from my cell phone gave her flashbacks to the new smoke-alarm installation and she freaked out), nothing but wind.

It's raining.  No sleet, just fairly heavy rain. So the more it gets out of the way before the temp drops below freezing (which I guess it just has), the better. But I'm looking at the car emergency kits I bought everybody for Christmas (space blanket, etc.) and the Yaktrax I got for my mom, and thinking geez, I shoulda given Thanksgiving presents ( Read more... )
