I went to my first party in LA today! A couple of days ago, I introduced myself to a guy who seemed about our age in our parking lot, named Marcus, and he said to stop by anytime. Today he invited us over for a little party. These apartments aren't large...they're not small, but they're certainly not large...yet he still somehow managed to squeeze well over 30 people in there. After talking to the majority of them, I've realized that the stereotype that everyone in LA is in or is trying to get into the entertainment industry, is really almost %100 true. The only exception at the entire party was the girlfriend of a guy who works as an actor, and who moved here to be closer to him. Other than that, every single one was in the entertainment industry...it's kind of weird. It also kinds of puts things in perspective that I better be damn good, because if I'm not, there sure as hell is somebody else who is. On the brighter side, everyone seemed to be pretty happily employed doing what they loved, so they was good to see.
So, as a little breakdown of interesting characters met at this party:
Tina, a dancer who was on Dancing with the Stars, and graced us with a great salsa demonstration with our host Marcus, who was an unbelievable dancer! Like...crazy unbelievable.
Klaus, who got a three month Visa to come pitch his movie idea, before having to go back to Germany.
Jim, who, having gotten a steady stream of acting gigs for the past year, is moving out of North Hollywood and into Hollywood, where he's just purchased a house.
George and Jessica, who met a year ago at LAX, and spent their 13 hour flight talking, and later decided to meet up at her house in Germany, and have been together ever since. Musician and actor, respectively.
Kizy and Neoni (knee-on-ee)...because come on...how cool are those names?!
There were a ton of other interesting people, but I can't remember their names.
Oh! Another awesome thing...somebody brought a flower pot, with tulips in it, but instead of soil, they had chocolate mousse with Oreo crumb topping. Also, the serving spoon was a transplanting trowel. That's hip.
