CT Scan Revisited, and You’re Not Doing Halloween Right

Oct 31, 2024 12:08

Curmudgeon forgot his phone this morning and had to drive all the way back to the house to get it. I told him he could have asked me to meet up with him in a parking lot halfway, which we did about a year ago when he forgot his laptop. I usually have plenty of time in the mornings before I sign on to my own job.

It’s Halloween, and that means there will be blood (drawn). Had my periodic cholesterol and blood pressure checkup this morning. While I was there, my N.P. mentioned the recent chest CT scan. She confirmed that they will redo it in a year.

This is good, IMO, because the CPAP cleaner I was using a few years back caused a recall of the CPAP machine. The cleaner could cause tiny particles of the machine to come loose and enter the patient’s lungs causing problems including cancer. The CT scan did show a couple of very small nodules. These would be normal unless the patient was “at risk”, in which case a follow up a year later would be recommended. The N.P. who went over the scan with me last week just asked me if I smoked, which I do not and never have; however, I thought about the CPAP cleaner issue later. I’m glad that my doctor’s office had planned to have the follow up next year, just in case, even though I doubt they knew about the CPAP cleaner issue till now. (The CPAP machine was prescribed by a different doctor, a neurologist and sleep specialist I no longer go to.)

We only had one set of two trick or treaters tonight. They were foreigners and didn’t know you’re supposed to say “Trick or treat”. They said, “Happy Halloween,” instead. My spooks were defective!

curmudgeon, health
