Time seems to crawl sometimes. But nothing but good things filled the weekend that just passed.
After a highly strung event on Thursday, met the inner circle to celebrate Flashy's birthday. It's been ages since we've last met and we got stuffed at Ricotti.
Just a short review: 1) ravioli had a beautiful filling, the best I've tried so far but the pasta was a tad too chewy for my liking. 2) pizzas were not bad, the crust was just nice, but not exactly exciting. 3) desserts are always a winner! doesn't help that I've got a soft spot for creme brulee.
Refusing to call it a night, Sleazy and I went to Central for some retail therapy. Stepped in Blum&Co...which was a mistake. We ended up buying over $400 worth of clothes. The breakdown being two pretty dresses. Eeecks! And we agreed to watch our budget. But it was two too pretty dresses and we couldn't resist, knowing full well that we'll regret not buying them. Classics pieces that will stand the test of time and for days when you just can't put two and two together =)
Friday was lazy, spent anticipating. Dad bought me some bak kwa to cheer me up. Some sort of fuel to last me on my journey =) Went to the doc's and no, no dengue!
Here's the exchange between my doc and I:
Me: So it's just regular flu?
Doc: Yup.
Me: Oh...I thought that I've got dengue.
Doc: You look too comfortable to have dengue.
I was so pai seh la! Hahahah!
Sat through to the wee hours of Sunday was spent playing Big Two, Bridge and Monopoly. Had an obscene amount of fun! Can't wait for the next session...it's been eons since the last time I had a Bridge party. As much as I think the fancy games at places like Minds Cafe and Settler's Cafe are fun, but to play $10 an hour each while there just doesn't make sense to me. Ok, maybe I'm a cheapo.
And finally, on to Sunday! Went to visit a friend's church with my mum today. After that, we went shopping, mooncake shopping to be precise. With Lei Garden's traditional mooncakes sitting pretty at home, it's time to get something different, something....exotic. We tried Hilton's cheese mousse/mocha/peanut butter caramel/some other cheesy confection mooncake to tradtional Teochew yam mooncakes. But I just couldn't resist Raffles the Plaza's little surprise hidden in yellow snowskin: a champagne truffle wrapped in smooth white lotus paste. Mmmmm....
