I think my laptop is dying. Oh, and the internet has gone insane. As you can probably guess, I had a bad day.
This morning, I thought I'd try out iTunes in order to get some songs I'd wanted for a while, because everyone harps on about its brilliance. I now know that I FAIL AT ITUNES. I do not understand it in any way. I downloaded Chris De Burgh's Lady In Red, only to find it was in the wrong format, so I spent ages looking in the help for how to convert it; I tried the instructions, but apparently some tracks are protected and cannot be converted. Why did it not say that in large letters at the top of the page? The same thing happened when I tried Microsoft's MSN music; the files were in the format WMA, as opposed to mp3, and cannot be converted, even though I have now spent most of my evening trying to find a way to convert the files (the only answer to this I happened upon failing miserably, because of course, the files are freaking protected again!). What has happened to the sanctity of the mp3 format!!? I thought they were called mp3 players, because they play mp3 files! Well, my mp3 player does, so nothing else is any good, and I can't seem to find any legal way of downloading music in an mp3 format.
None of the above has been helped by the fact that my laptop has frozen and crashed more times than I can count, and now it seems can't have more than one piece of software open at a time due to "application errors" and a lack of virtual memory. It keeps closing programmes for no reason, and it doesn't even alert me with a "Not responding" message, or "error report" box, as much as I do hate to see them.
Basically, this has been a crappy day, and I can't wait for it to end so I can start afresh tomorrow. All I did today was spend two hours at the hairdressers (oh, what joy) and then sit like a hermit prodding my unresponsive laptop and crying into fresh mugs of tea and coffee. I'm going to apologise now for this rant spamming, but I just needed to express it! The highlights of my day were noticing a street named Bale Road, and watching Jane Eyre repeats on BBC Four. How is this what my life has come to? To sum everything up, I'm disgusted, and I'm going to bed.
