I have recurring weird dreams in which I am spending the day with some some celebrity of the past or present. Last night I dreamed I spent the day with the late French film director François Truffaut, who died in 1983. I offer this little posting about Pinocchio mainly because the director of the best film version of this (and there are scads of versions) died last week. His name was Luigi Comencini and in 1972 he made a marvelous 5-hour mini-series called Le avventure di Pinocchio with actor Nino Manfredi as Geppetto and young Andrea Balestri as the marionette- ( Read more... )
