Wow... I can't believe that I've already had four weeks of my summer vacation - next weekend, the August Long weekend, normally devoted to our annual Tobermory trip, is being used for camping instead. We will return to Tobermory next year.

What have we done with our summer?

I just found out from my DH that his parents are coming for dinner. In less than 3 hours.

My house is a mess - the kitchen table, where I've been working, is covered in paper. The rest isn't too terrible, and my DH is going to cook, but sheesh! A little notice would be good.

My uncle Henk passed away in early January. He'd had cancer, and made it through one last holiday season. My parents saw him a few days before he died - it had been a lot longer for me - I hadn't seen him since he got sick. At least all my memories of him are happy ones - healthy & happy & wacky, and not shrunken and ravaged by cancer.
