The end of March Break means Back to School!

Mar 20, 2007 20:52

Went back to work yesterday, after a restful March Break.

What else did I do?

  • Wednesday night, new Bones episode! Yah! I like the jealousy between Booth & Sullivan over Brennan. Quote of the night, "Testosterone spill, aisle 4!" I love Angela's character.
  • Thursday, we finally watched Little Miss Sunshine. Here's my review, in brief.
  • Took Sonja to the babysitter's on Friday, and actually managed to get some schoolwork done. Marking one set of tests actually required two separate days because they were so bad, I couldn't stand it.
  • Friday night, audi7 and I went to see Because I Said So. It was good - lots of laughs, and some sappy moments too. Good chick flick. Afterwards, we went to Chapters and browsed the bargain books - I got four that were marked down to $5 each, and with the 10% discount with my Chapters card and taxes, it worked out to $19.99...which was just enough for me to use the two gift cards I got at Shoppers Drug Mart last weekend. Woohoo! Free books! After Chapters, we visited our friend Tim's for tea & conversation. Poor girl...ran into several of her students that night between the theatre & the coffee shop. But, we still had a great time!
  • Saturday night, after I finished marking those tests, we picked Sonja up at the IL's & stayed for dinner.
  • Sunday I was totally lazy. Read. Hung out with Sonja. Read. Ate. Read. etc.
Yesterday, back to work...

Not too many people with tans... a lot of jet lag stories, though, especialy from the students who were in Kenya for 2 weeks. Today, it was the food poisoning stories from the kids who went to Greece. I don't remember school trips to these places - I went to Ottawa, and Washington. And a ski lodge with the concert band. Twice. That's it for overnight school trips.

Today, I was the local pharmacy - one of my colleagues was looking for Tylenol or "drugs", so I sent him to my desk drawer where I keep that kind of stuff (this was while my grade 12's were writing their Molecular Genetics test). Then, last period, I was talking in the hall with a couple of other colleagues (one was my drug-seeker from earlier) when I spotted one of my period one students coming out of her class, headed for the washrooms... then exited the washroom in the opposite direction of her class, going downstairs instead. A few minutes later, she headed back our way, and pulled me aside - did I have any, um, you know, feminine hygiene stuff? Luckily for her, in addition to the Tylenol and Advil I keep in the top drawer of my desk (and vitamins, too, in case I don't manage one before leaving the house), there are also usually tampons. She was rather grateful ... of course, on the way back to class, she ran into her teacher - the one who'd excused her from class in the first place - and had to explain why she'd been gone so long. All I heard was my name... but he didn't come ask me anything afterwards, so I guess it was all okay in the end.

school, march break
