In all my years teaching, that was the first time a girl asked me for hygiene products - though my grade 9's last semester had no qualms telling me they were so long on a washroom break because they had to find "stuff...you know, miss, girl stuff"
I've been meaning to pick it up. Grammar has definitely gone down over the years ... not all of it can be blamed on the internet - the "whole language" way of teaching reading & writing had a big, negative effect, too, but I think they're going back towards phonics & grammar (the way I learned it, back in the stone ages).
It wasn't until I was in college did I go anywhere for spring break (or any other breaks except for summer), and it was never as exotic as Kenya or Greece. I did go to Ireland with my family in high school before my senior year, though. Still, I always spent them at home.
In Uni I did a ski trip for my first spring break, but that was it until the year we got engaged, when we went to St Maarten...other than that, March break has been about staying home or road trips to see family.
I'd love to do some more travelling, but I think it's going to have to wait a few more years...
