Ok, I've created my own meme... or, at least, I'm doing a list that I'm sure someone has done as a meme, but I haven't seen it, so here it is.
What are the top 10 most-played songs on your iPod/iTunes/mp3 player? Why do they get played so often?
10. 3AM by Matchbox Twenty
- Not the first song I liked by them (that would be Push) but my favourite song by MB20. When I hear it, it's stuck in my head until something replaces it. Was very glad that Rob sang a version of it at his concert last year (gee...actually, when I think about it, that's where I was this time last year ... at the Rob Thomas concert in Hamilton.) I'm actually surprised it's not higher on the play list, to be quite honest.
9. Rock & Roll Pt 2 by Gary Glitter
- This one is just fun... reminds me of clubbing, and hockey games, and it's great driving music.
8. Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry
- At school, 5 minutes before the first period bell, we play "walking music". One of the French teachers is responsible for picking. Several years ago, this song was the choice one morning, and I have this image of one of my colleagues dancing along to it as she made her way to class. It's fun, and I love to dance to it, and when it's on the radio, I always sing along.
7. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2
- This one actually surprised me. Don't get me wrong...I love U2, and I like this song, but somehow I thought Pride would have been higher up than this one. Or Mysterious Ways or Vertigo. I think because this one is on my slow & mellow playlist it gets played more often than some of the others.
6. When The Heartache Ends by Rob Thomas
- This explanation is like the one for #7, above. Not my favourite song off Rob's solo album (that would have to be I am an Illusion or Lonely No More) but it's on the slow & mellow playlist - which is good to mark to, or nap to when I'm somewhere other than home & need to try & get some sleep.
5. Groovin' by the Rascals
- This one is definitely on the slow & mellow playlist, and I just like it. Reminds me of lazy summer days.
4. A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum
- Definitely on the slow & mellow list...a great song to just kick back & relax to.
3. Red Red Wine by UB40
- This one reminds me of high school. Not that I was drinking red wine then (nor much of it now, since it gives me headaches) but I have distinct memories of dancing to this at school dances.
2. Sister Golden Hair by America
- I was blonde, once upon a time. When I had hair. And didn't really play around with the colour (much). This song makes me think of road trips...something we did more when I was younger, before my grandparents moved to Ontario from Montreal.
1. Black Water by the Doobie Brothers
- This one is fun - and I'm sure it's on more than one playlist. I sing along, I dance to it, and I crank it up when it's on the radio (which doesn't happen often, unless I've hooked up the iPod to it!)
So, what's your list? I'm tagging
audi7 because I know she's procrastinating reading / marking essays, and anyone else who'd like to share their list.
