Late Night Ponderings

Aug 14, 2006 00:00

Well, not really late, but it's midnight, so I guess it's late enough.

I just gave up on sleep, again, at least for the time being.  In my head, a song from Dora the Explorer, and I haven't even heard it in the past several days.  Sonja isn't even here this weekend...she's at my IL's instead.  Speaking of the ILs...

They went down to PA to visit my SIL & her family, namely their other three grandchildren, last week.  Down Tuesday, back Thursday, just a quick visit.  Hardly worth the five hour drive, not counting the border crossing, if you ask me.  So, what did they get to do with their one full day in PA?  Babysit, while my SIL went shopping with her best friend, who hitched a ride down with my ILs.  Three energetic kids, ranging in age from 10 months to seven years.  And my SIL had the nerve ( last June) to accuse me of using them as a babysitting service?  Puh-lease!

So, I have three weeks of summer  vacation yet.  Two, if you count the fact that the week before school I'll likely be at work every day, getting ready for classes, reorganizing my office space, and organizing Commencement, which occurs in early October.  I still have EEs to read (
ataea's prediction that I'll be reading them Monday night before school starts is starting to look like an eventuality).  I have a mass of paper to wade through in my home office...must buy a shredder this week and start purging!  And the pile of books on my nightstand hasn't shrunk nearly as much as I'd hoped.

That's it for now.  Maybe now that some of this has been "put on paper", I can get some sleep.

family, insomnia
