February = Folk Alliance

Feb 11, 2012 13:17

I'll be arriving at Chicago's Union Station on Friday February 17, somewhere around 3pm. Saturday is Kharmin and Mary's Birthday Party, and I'm looking forward to playing Sunday for Jeremy's folks. I'm off that evening (8pm) to Memphis, Tennessee for Folk Alliance and a whole mess of other happenings:

Here's my schedule for MEMPHIS AND FOLK ALLIANCE

Monday, February 20th: A benefit for Summerland Grove, at First Congo, in Memphis, 5:30 pm. Changes to the meal planning for 2012's FoS include everyone doing their own dishes, but for travelers like me, *bringing* dishware is difficult. The goal of the benefit is to procure "Scout Camping Dish" sets in sufficient numbers to cover the few folks like me who attend this event, but can't bring dishes. Includes Spaghetti Dinner, and Andy Cohen is going to join me for a few pieces, presumably with his dulceola.

Tuesday, February 21st, I have a day off. On purpose, even.

Wednesday Folk Alliance itself begins. There's the Tote Stuffing Party (this year I intend to party a wee bit more and stuff about the same amount as last year).

Thursday, February 23rd; Panel - "The Un-Guitar". I get to start out with the short tale of the fellow on Pearl Street, who said to me, "Son, that's the funkiest-lookin' banjo I've ever seen!". We'll be looking at the traditional and nontraditional roles of some other traditional and nontraditional instruments. How's that for equivocation?

Folk Alliance Traditional Music Showcase: Friday Morning (actually, still Thursday Night) 12:30 am, in the Caroline Patton Room, #1903.

Occupy Breakfast!
Cohen and I do a bit of a concert for the Occupy Memphis on Saturday Morning, February 25th, with the intent of bringing donuts and coffee. If you get a chance, please be there, and be part of our human microphone. If you can bring an extra donut or two, please do.

I leave Memphis late Sunday, February 26, just before 11pm, and arrive back in Boulder sometime middayish on Tuesday, the 28th.

I really need help finding decent agencies and bookings on various tours. I'm not built for the business end of these things... I'd rather just continue to be the product, rather than, per se, the "Producer".

We'll see.
