Every scheduled paying gig I had fell through.
A grand time was had.
Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton had me sing Copper Kettle three times in five days; I guess it's popular.
The best bit of all was playing for Occupy Memphis, along with a whole SLEW of other musicians.
We each got about 15 minutes. The program was four hours long. Bits can be viewed/listened to as they go up on the
Occupy Memphis website.
Next year's festival is in Toronto. I might finally, then, be ready to make proper use of this amazing functionality tool I've become involved in.
To the wonderful fellow whose showcase followed mine on Saturday night (actually, early Sunday Morning), I've written:
Deeply heartfelt thanks, and mild swearing: I have not been able to get your Victorian ditty, "My Coffin Shall Be Black", out of my head since your performance, and my harp has been clamoring for an immediate ("Now! Right now, or I'll break a string!") arrangement of the piece.
It's a delightful piece, and must be added to my repertoire.
