Older and Wiser Still?

I'd been meaning to post something, as its been quite some time...but blockage tends to prevent this quite often. Here's something- a touch more maudlin than I'd like- that I found while sorting through my books this afternoon. No idea when it was scrawled down, but here it is in its mediocre glory all the same.

Brought low by that inevitable gravity. Wounded by the acid the world spits.
You dust off and attempt forward momentum. It becomes an increasing improbability that
you'll ever be the starry eyed neophyte you once were, as the quagmire seeps into yet another layer of you.
A multitude of errors compel you, and yet a hundred misgivings leave you rooted to the spot.
Across town and elsewhere the world seems bright and effervescent, the young and blissfully unaware
flit through their lives, oblivious and thoroughly condescending. Leaving you, older and less wise by the day,
to contemplate the meaning for the lot of us.

life, goofily scrawled writing i find later, pessimism
