That Fire is Burning Red Hot, and I'm Not Talking About the One at Monte Carlo! - Today's Recap

4/28/10

Okay. Holy shit. Okay. Today's episode threw me for a loop, much like Reid has just recently thrown Luke for one.

To start, I have to admit that when rumors of a possible triangle started up waaaaaay back in the day, I honestly didn't think it was going to happen. It was like a "Yeah, yeah, right" thought in the back of my mind. Then when Luke and Reid started gravitating towards one another, I didn't think it would go any further than longing looks and meaningful glances. Then the first kiss came and pretty much blew me out of the water, and I had to adjust accordingly.

And then today. Holy shit today! I did not expect the two of them to have those two...moments at Katie's house! Holy hell. And damn Eric. He's really going for it, guys, and I'm loving the shit out of that! You go boy!

Anyway, let's start from the top! Luke and Reid first.

They return from their eventful trip from Dallas and find that Katie's out of the house, so Reid invites Luke for pizza and beer to thank him for setting up the hearing. Good boy Luke tells Reid that he doesn't drink and Reid doesn't have to thank him, but Reid convinces him to stay, saying that they'll watch the game on TV instead of drink.

As it turns out, the cable's busted, so the two of them get to talking on the couch instead. It's clear that Luke really can't tell his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to Reid right now, because he's seen this complete other side of the doctor that he doesn't know what to do with. Earlier Reid had told him that another kiss won't happen again unless Luke wants it to, and later, they move in presumably to make it happen again, but the pizza guy interrupts them. Reid says, "Did anyone ever tell you you have bad timing?" and the pizza guy simply says, "Yeah, I get that a lot!" HAHA. I bet he does.

Anyway, so that was Moment #1. Jesus, guys...Van and Eric are rocking the shit out of this. This was the sexiest scene their characters have ever had, IMO. And then they re-enact it later! They're trying to kill us; it's a conspiracy! :-P

So, somewhere in the middle of this (my brain's gone fuzzy from all the hotness so this is kinda out of order), Luke and Reid get to talking about Noah, and Reid just lays it all out, like he does. I know some of you might disagree with me, but Reid is my hero for the day for saying everything that he said to Luke. How he thought that Noah should be more grateful, and should stop blaming Luke for everything. And how Luke shouldn't blame himself anymore. I honestly cannot believe that Luke still blames himself for Noah's accident. It was not his fault. Noah was focused enough on the fireworks to know that something was wrong with them, so Luke obviously wasn't distracting him all that much when the accident happened. So I'm SO HAPPY that someone finally told Luke to stop feeling bad about it all! Geez. Took so long!

Anyway, Luke gets upset with this, but he doesn't have much time to process it because Reid's cell phone rings just as he's going to pay for the pizza. Luke picks it up for him, and it's Noah!

So Noah tells Luke that his surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, but Reid doesn't have to call him back because whatever he wanted to talk about isn't important. So Luke hangs up, visibly upset because he was just ambushed with this news, and asks Reid (quite forcefully, I might add :-)) why he didn't tell him about Noah's surgery.

Then Reid plays the Doctor-Patient Confidentiality card. Not that I blame him, as it is the right thing to do (keeping Noah's confidence, that is), but Reid has bent the rules before (like when he called Luke to tell him to call Noah about his reaction to the pen light). They banter back and forth about this for a while, and Luke is suspicious about Reid's motives, which Reid picks up on. They talk more about each other, and then Moment #2 happens.

Luke says something like, "You were this pompous ass before, and now you're like this...and you make me feel like..." and Reid says, "What? What do I make you feel like?" and he moves in all slow and seductive and that's when his pager goes off. God. I'm getting all worked up just writing about this scene! LOL. It was very hard to miss that had they not been interrupted, they would have kissed each other again, and what a kiss it would have been (and it would have been a mutual kiss to start!). Jesus, you two. I'm on fire over here just imagining it.

And once again, HELL YEAH ERIC! With the touching and the caressing and the soft sultry voice. Whew! I need a cold shower, STAT!

(And seriously, not to be lewd or shallow, but...Luke needs to get laid. He really does. LOL. Especially when he said, "It's been a long time," in reference to Reid's kiss. Poor guy needs to let some stress out! And what better way than to partake in some sexercise? :-P)

So before Reid leaves (and I love that he did this), he tells Luke that he's not the type of guy to play games. He's not trying to keep Noah blind so that he can chase after Luke. He's simply being honest with his feelings. And that sets Luke at ease.

Oh, yeah...and that line of Luke's? Something about, "Being wanted by someone like you is a compliment"? Well, right back at ya, Luke! Okay, so Luke isn't some world-renowned surgeon who saves lives daily like it's no big deal. But Luke is a wonderfully compassionate, loving human being who has the biggest heart in all of Oakdale. Reid would be so lucky to be loved by Luke! He's a catch and a half!

Then Luke gets back to the Lilypad, and Noah's waiting for him. I really liked the ease of this scene, how comfortable the two boys were with each other. I really liked when Luke asked Noah how long he'd been waiting, and Noah answered that he didn't know, but it wasn't long. There was just something so beautifully natural and flowing and domestic about that little exchange. :-)

Then Luke and Noah talk, and Noah tells Luke how he's scared of the surgery (because HELLO, this is BRAIN SURGERY we're talking about!) and how he has no one to care about him, no one to care whether he comes out of the surgery or not. :-( Oh, Noah. That's so not true. Luke will always care about you, no matter what happens! Poor baby. :-( So Luke tells him that he'll be there for him, through the surgery, for his recovery, whatever Noah wants. And then they hug! Or more appropriately, I should say that Luke hugs Noah, because he knows it's what Noah wants. Oh, boys. T_T Did you see that face Noah made, when he was tucked into Luke's shoulder? WAHHHHH. And they're doing this all as friends, nothing more. *sniff*

The boys are twisting me into knots, guys. I love Noah and will always love him, but at the moment I am enjoying Luke and Reid very much, so I'm all sorts of pretzel-shaped. :-P And this last scene with Luke and Noah is laying it on thick for when all the shit starts to go down in the future! GAH.

But also, this is probably the best storyline the boys have ever had. I'm saying this before it's even happened yet! Which also means that I could change my mind down the line. But so far, I have enjoyed this storyline more than any other of theirs (barring Luke's paralysis line, because that will always remain my favourite) and I feel like it just keeps getting better. This is true soap story-telling! I have often wondered how far in advance the writers planned this story out, because there are so many little things that have happened that are only recently falling into place. Like...did the writers mean for Noah to push Luke away just so they could bring Reid in? Or was bringing Reid in and fitting him so nicely into the storyline just a fluke that happened to work with Noah pushing Luke away? The transition was so seamless that I have a hard time deciding whether or not I can give the writers that much credit. :-P

Also...I have often wondered why Reid hasn't asked Luke about blackmailing him when he first came to Oakdale. Especially now, since they're *ahem* closer. Don't you think Reid would be curious about what Luke had on him? I mean, I know Luke didn't actually have anything, but Reid doesn't know that! Why hasn't he asked Luke yet? He'd probably find it more endearing that Luke lied through his teeth for the person that he loves, if nothing else! It could really only work in both their favors.

Anyway. Holy tangent, Batman!

Let's go on to Parker! He and Faith are at the police station starting to tell Margo about how he's been ripped off when Margo gets the call about the fire at Monte Carlo. She rushes out, and the two of them follow, because Parker recognized the address of the building as the one where Carly works. So Parker's spazzing out like a pro and tells everyone in sight that they need to check the room again to make sure there's nobody in it. Initially, the firefighters miss Gabriel (uh, that firefighter should be - no pun intended - fired. He barely looked around the room when he went to check!) but eventually they find him, and he's brought out on a stretcher to be taken to the hospital. Unfortunately for Parker, Carly overhears him blabbing to Faith about how he got into a fight with Gabriel and how he suspected he was being robbed, and Carly now has Parker locked in a room at Memorial, where she is going to wheedle every last bit of info out of him, I'm sure.

And this scene with Carly and Parker is the reason why I say Carly is a good mom. Parker was doing his best to wiggle out of her grasp, but she had the Grip of Steel on him. She absolutely would NOT let him leave before he told her everything. And the preview for tomorrow has him spilling the beans (and then Carly spazzes out like a pro! LOL. Like mother, like son!). :-)

And I thought that Lily and Lucinda were going to be partners in crime concering Gabriel's paternity, but I was wrong! Lily kept going on and on about how she should tell Craig, and she almost had him on the phone even, but Lucinda kept quashing Lily's desires to let Craig in on this huge secret right quick! Lucinda thinks that Craig will only cause more harm than good if he knows. She thinks he'll take Gabriel for a ride, while Lily disagrees because she knows that Craig loves Johnny more than anything else and thinks Gabriel should have a fair shot at that with Craig.

The two go their separate ways (after Faith barges in on them to cry about how she's worried about Gabriel, hence giving all the info on his whereabouts to Lily) and Lucinda goes to the farm to comfort Faith (who, in my opinion, didn't deserve it. She barely knows Gabriel anyway, and she was a jerk to Lily today. I'm rarely on Lily's side, but Faith keeps jumping the gun where Lily's concerned and it's really pissing me off. Give your mother a break, you little shit! She's trying her best for you!).

Then Lily shows up at Memorial to see Craig, after Reid has checked on Gabriel and ordered him a CT scan. Margo has also just left after grilling Craig about what he knows of Gabriel's next of kin, which at the moment, Craig knew nothing about and therefore, couldn't help her. Margo is suspicious, though...especially after one of the firefighters at the scene tells her that she could be looking at arson, instead of just "faulty wiring" (which Craig had first suggested to her).

And then MEOW! Cat out of the bag! Lily asks Craig if he remembers Lydia, Gabriel's mother. Of course Craig remembers! Then Lily drops her bomb on him. Tomorrow's preview has Craig doing his best "Heeeeeere's Johnny!" impersonation again about the whole scenario! Hehe. Can't wait for another epic Craig freakout. Hee!

Okay, have I talked your ears (eyes?) off yet? Hehe. Totally enjoyed today's episode. Totally looking forward to next week, too, where things are about to get juicy! :-D
