So after debate/pressure/threats, the Czech Rep have signed the Lisbon Treaty.  Ratification now opens the door to a "new" EU.

So much for domestic politics and public opinion - the belief that the government would give the public a referendum on the matter is pretty much dead, and now looms the spectre of Blair being crowned EU President.  ( Read more... )

So mostly survived the first "proper" week of university intact. Given that I only had to attend lectures and not actual tutorials, this wasn't hard. Life last month seems to have been really quite manic - I feel I've been everywhere and nowhere long enough to be anything other than "transiting" through the stages of my life. In short, it's amounted to a weekend in Geneva at the end of August, work in Cardiff at the start of September, Em moving over from the States, our weekend in Paris wherein ( Read more... )
