I'm back. For those not in the know I took a little three week road trip because I needed to get the hell out of Dodge. Turns out, it is neither better nor worse there than it is here. Apparently your personal demons don't require a forwarding address to find you when you skip town. Here is the briefest of brief recaps.
Stop 1 - The country side is beautiful, but high speed internet and food delivery are under appreciated. I hung out with an old friend who is a relatively well respected journalist. Talent is great, but common sense is vastly under rated.
Stop 2 - Nostalgia Central. Me and some friends re-living the days when we were pretending to be part of the days that had evaporated before we existed. It was either cozy in a sad sort of way, or sad in a cozy sort of way. Either way, the music was great.
Stop 3 - Welcome to the world my little pico. Newborns are cool, new parents not so much. I heard more than I cared to about how smart, strong, and successful she was going to be; not one word about happy, healthy, or well adjusted. Wondering is substantially different then expecting.
Stop 4 - Vegas is no place to collect ones thoughts. For future consideration, stay away from casino bars from 3am-5am. Any hookers still at the bar after 3am are very aggressive, very haggard, or both. Watching the John - Prostitute ballet is fascinating, but when they start to swarm it gets a little uncomfortable. Unless, thats your thing and if so, enjoy.
I know at least one person who occasionally reads this will disagree, and I suspect others will also, but after careful consideration I have determined that Elizabeth Wurtzel is a hack. Camus thinks so too, but he just laughs. He has a better sense of humor than I do.
