let's avoid reality...

I'm not reading books (it's all papers of late) and now I can't read the news. Natural disaster, economic disaster, and compromise of civil liberties in the Western world. Nothing's new except myself, who still finds it all startling when I don't find it enraging...so it's all been roaming for fanfics (beautiful lovely angst-filled XMFC fusion fics) and movies and movie trailers which is at least nothing other than time consuming while I do the bare minimum in life. My mother quoted A Room of One's Own at me today, a very strong hint, I think, but am in one of those crises-moods that simply need to pass. Even the new Doctor Who episode's not helping much though I love that we're finally no longer on the Time-Traveller's-Wife-narrative...and Rory's wonderful.

But then I see this promo of Kristin Stewart in what looks like Gondorian armour in a movie titled Snow White. Seriously, is that the White Tree of Gondor? They're setting Snow White in Gondor? The Fourth Age?

It's like sleepily watching TV seeing the trailer for The Eagle for the first time and thinking they filmed a fanfic (which they actually sort of did, but I've not read the book)...

I hope Gondorian Snow White is every bit as promising as that image is, that there's hope in the world of the The New Shadow...

(I was going to write why I think Charles/Erik in XMFC has the Greatest Love Story of all Comic Movies of late and why fanfic depictions of Charles Xavier in most XMFC fics bothers me so much, but maybe tomorrow, since RL still requires an effort. Argh, it's 90 degrees out here lately.)
