"I know, I know," Ed said quietly, trying to hide the worry in his eyes.

Al looked up at the couple from his place at the end of the bed. He had dark circles under his eyes and looked as though he hadn't slept in weeks. Yet, he was here. "Alright, it's time," he said, smiling weakly up at Winry.

Winry looked down at Al and nodded. She closed her eyes and pushed, over and over, each contraction bleeding into the next until finally, with one last push and a quiet cry, there came the wail of a newborn, very angry baby.

Winry collapsed back against the bed and smiled weakly, tears streaming down her cheeks as she listened to the baby cry.

"You hear that?," Ed asked, shaking her shoulder, "You hear that-"

"He's fine," Al said softly, as he cleaned up the newborn, "Absolutely perfect."

Winry nodded and covered Ed's hand with hers. "Yeah, I hear it," she whispered, wiping her eyes with her other hand. "It's the best sound I've ever heard...."

Al walked around the bed and handed the still crying baby to Winry.

"What should we name him?," Ed asked softly.

Winry took the baby, then reached out and grabbed Al's hand. "I think we should name him after Al," she said quietly, smiling up at him. "If you don't mind, I mean."

"Yeah, I think we should," Ed replied, gently trailing his fingers over the baby's forehead.

Al, for the first time in weeks, smiled at that.

Winry squeezed Al's hand, then looked down at her baby. "Hmmm... he looks like an Alphonse."

"He does. He looks like Al when he was a baby," Ed said softly.

Al leaned over to kiss the top of Winry's head and sighed happily. "I don't even know how to thank you two..."
