Winry lay as still as she could in her bed, trying not to move as she looked up at Ed with fearful eyes. The entire pregnancy had been hard for her, filled with doubt and the fear that she would lose this one, too

"I know, I know," Ed said quietly, trying to hide the worry in his eyes.
Al looked up at the couple from his place at the end of the bed. He had dark circles under his eyes and looked as though he hadn't slept in weeks. Yet, he was here. "Alright, it's time," he said, smiling weakly up at Winry.
Winry looked down at Al and nodded. She closed her eyes and pushed, over and over, each contraction bleeding into the next until finally, with one last push and a quiet cry, there came the wail of a newborn, very angry baby.
Winry collapsed back against the bed and smiled weakly, tears streaming down her cheeks as she listened to the baby cry.
Winry nodded and covered Ed's hand with hers. "Yeah, I hear it," she whispered, wiping her eyes with her other hand. "It's the best sound I've ever heard...."
Winry took the baby, then reached out and grabbed Al's hand. "I think we should name him after Al," she said quietly, smiling up at him. "If you don't mind, I mean."

Al leaned over to kiss the top of Winry's head and sighed happily. "I don't even know how to thank you two..."
