Winry lay as still as she could in her bed, trying not to move as she looked up at Ed with fearful eyes. The entire pregnancy had been hard for her, filled with doubt and the fear that she would lose this one, too.
When her water had broken, Winry had burst into tears and let Ed carry her upstairs when once she would have glared at him and gone by herself. As the contractions ripped through her, she clenched her jaw and fisted her hands in the blankets, trying not to scream or writhe on the bed.
"Ed... I'm scared," she whispered after a particularly painful contraction. "I can't help but worry.... what if..."
