I meant to post about my time in Paris yesterday, but couldn’t seem to login to LJ. A better post (with fuzzy pictures) will follow today. Yesterday was a bit of a of bewildered day all round. I had (I thought) a week’s work to look forward to, so stumbled out of bed and off to the bus-stop at 7.30. I reached the front door before realising I didn’t have my bus pass; after increasingly frantic searching* I decided to pay for a ticket to the tube station and buy a new one there. I reached the bus stop before realising I only had euros. I finally reached work, only 30 minutes late, to find that the job had decreased from a week to half a day. Bugger.

Still, I got to bed very early last night, and feel relatively lively today, so in a moment I will be out and shopping for a functioning electric kettle. Isn’t it curious how household kit all breaks down at the same time? I'm now reduced to using the old stove-top kettle with the melted whistle, which means that I can't tell it's boiling until hot water pours out over the cooker.

*It finally turned up in my closed desk drawer - I have no idea whatsoever how it got there.

work, kettles, buses
