It struck me this morning that
BroNYCon, the 4th of which is taking place in Seacaucus, NJ this weekend, will most likely reach their cap of 4,000 attendees.
The largest Furry convention,
AnthroCon, took from 1997 until 2010 for them to reach that level of attendance.
Is it valid to say that the MLP fandom is larger than the Furry fandom at this point? Certainly it's surprising to see this amount of growth within such a short time.
Of course, given that a lot of the recent entrants into the MLP fandom are through the gateway of the
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic television show, and that such shows do not go on for ever (and many never get to the magic 100 episodes needed for syndication), could this fandom have a much shorter lifespan compared to the multi-decade span of the Furry fandom?
