Mom passed on today just before 1PM local time. She had taken a bad turn overnight. I was with her at the end, along with a family friend who is also a retired nurse. I don't think I'll get into details here, and if I'm out of circulation for the next few days I hope you'll understand.

She's better today but it's a steep and unsteady climb. She'll have to stay in the ICU at least another day, more likely two, and then a regular hospital bed at least a day after that. They need to stabilize her blood pressure and bring her platelet and white blood cell counts back up before anything else can be done for her ( Read more... )

My mother had a medical emergency over the last thirty-six hours; she's in a hospital ICU and will have probably had a CT scan by now. This is related to her recovery from cancer surgery two years ago and subsequent complications.

I had a long day today, I'm looking at a longer day overmorrow, and probably a long lost weekend after that.

She got back from the hospital about an hour ago and surprised the heck out of me. She's cranky-tired but otherwise fine and taking it easy.

I haven't posted much about Mum and her condition over here because I'd been working more "traffic" about her on Facebook (she has about 1000 friends there), and because a lot of what she's going through is TMI/likely NSFW/PRIVATE.
