Does God Exist?

Jan 26, 2009 23:16

so we had our big debate today, something C4C have been gearing up for for the past month or so, and i'd daresay that by the grace of God it was a huge success! we had a great turnout of probably around a thousand or so, filling up the 3 auditoriums leaving tons of ppl with standing room only. people started lining up way ahead of time and there was a point in time when the whole floor was filled with people in lines! Praise God for the enormous interest in this issue man!!! i think it's a first step for these ppl...to be at least thinking about this and not be complacent with whatever we have in life and not think about implications of the existence of God...because it does impact a huge part of our lives depending on what we decide to believe in!

anyways so our speaker, the Theist, Kirk Durston, gave a really strong opening and presented us with some good arguements. firstly from the fact that everything HAS to have a beginning and something must have created it. be it the big bang or micro-organisms or whatever we consider the beginning of evolution is...something HAS to have made that happen. if it randomly occurred, scienctific research shows that it must be able to be reduplicated for this theory to be true. so what created that? we can rule out natural forces because the chances of that happening is so small and for our universe to become so fine-tuned to life from that on is virtually impossible (he had some other valid reasoning which i cant remember because i couldnt take notes coz the room was too dark ><) but yes, so the only reason left was that a supernatural force made it happen.

and this supernatural force, can be defined as our personal God because He is actively involved in the life that He created as can be seen and proven in the bible. even if we assumed that the old testament bible was just a book for myths written by the Jews, to have it prophesy the coming of Jesus and all that happened almost a thousand years before just proves that there was a divine power that transcended through time inspiring people to write that. and that Jesus actually existed on earth and all that stuff that happened is not only recorded in the bible but also in various historical books. as long as you have the will to find out more about it, you'll find real solid evidence outside biblical sources on His existence and that He was not a lie.

it reminded me of a time when i was going to a korean church in japan and i was attending a bible study, and the leader said that if Christianity was a lie, then we would be believing in a lie that lasted over 2000 years! and that is impossible because humans are intelligent beings and the truth will ALWAYS be unfolded...because no lie can pass through the test of time. and as Kirk challenged the aethist in his opening, how else then can you explain the shock waves of Christianity after Jesus' appearance on earth? how can a single man be this influential that even after 2000 years people are still coming to believe in Him? the fact that Christianity started even 1000 years before Jesus came on earth proves that it is different from other religions. it transcends through time: past present and future.

[note: i'll blog more about this tomorrow or after when i have more energy...this cold is draining me like crazy...]

god, c4c
