An overdue, half assed con report!

Nov 23, 2011 14:30

Well, my laziness has once again gotten the better of me, and a post that should have been made well over a month ago is just now coming into reality. Yes, my overdue Fur Fright post is now gonna happen. Let's see what I can remember...

I left LAX just before midnight on the Thursday before the con, landing in CT at about 11 in the morning the next day after a layover in Cincinnati. I was greeted, in person, for the first time by my friend, Silver, in front of the airport and transported to the hotel where all the festivities were taking place. Shortly after arriving at the hotel, I was greeted by the other two people that I was looking forward to see, Ace and Shawna! Now I had met Shawna before the year prior when I went out to NY for my friend's wedding, but had never met Ace before in person. So having the three of us in the same place for the first time in probably 5 or so years was really exciting.

The con itself was really awesome, much better than anything that I was expecting. I got to suit around in Artie a couple of times, making an appearance in the first fursuit parade (this was the first con that I went to that actually had TWO parades). I got to meet a BUNCH of new people too, all of them a darn pleasure to meet and be around. I even picked up a couple of commissions from the den, ... which I still haven't heard anything about, and stupid me didn't get the name of one of them that I hired for a badge commission, so I've got just over $100 of art out there floating around and not an idea of how to get a hold of one of the people I commissioned. The other just isn't responding to any of my notes/e-mails, so that's something I am going to have to keep on top of...

ANYWAY, one of the highlights of my time out there was what happened on Saturday night. I usually like to have a few drinks while I'm out at cons, and this was obviously no exception. I went with Silver to the local liquor mart to pick up stuff that I would be mixing for my friends and myself. After that it was off to the overflow hotel to mingle and drink with the group I was with. Let's just say that I lost track of time, very hilarious things were said, people were very drunk, and I ended up sleeping on the floor of their hotel room for the night. It was absolutely NUTS, but you know what? It was fun, and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

A couple of the smaller highlights include going to the blackjack tournament on the first night, only to be knocked out after 12 hands due to the dumb luck on the dealer's part. I played a crap-ton of Four Swords with Shawna and Ace in the hotel room (I PICK YOU UP, I THROW YOU DOWN). Oh, and NO DRAMA!!! Unless I was oblivious to something, none of the people that I was around had any kind of negative vibes going around. So the positive energy that I was getting from everyone really helped me have a good time.

All in all it was an amazing con, and yes, I will most likely be going again next year. It's a beautiful area, and the people out there are just totally awesome. It's totally worth my time and money.

And to all the people that I (finally) met: Ace, Shawna, Silver, Miko, Jaymes, Zeke, Rei, Goron, Ookami, Sciggles, and Neer. Thank you for making my first time out the the east an amazing one. I can't wait to see you all again... ... FA:U?...
