Yeah, it's been a while, oh well. I remember when I used to post on here almost daily. Anyway, that's besides the point! There's a couple things I've been meaning to put here for a while.
The Meltdown
So some of you may recall about three weeks ago, specifically on my Twitter account, I was ranting and complaining about the shenanigans that my supervisor was pulling in the scheduling office. I guess it's time to be a little more specific as to why I was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Here's what happened. Every year we have a station picnic, basically to give all the deputies and their loved ones some much needed fun time, and a break from the craziness that happens everyday at work. Well, typically, so that everyone can attend, we have to ask other stations to help fill the vacancies that are created when the troops get to go play for a day. This is usually done several weeks in advance, so that everything can go smoothly and there's no rush to try and fill minimum staffing. That didn't happen
The week BEFORE the picnic, I was assigned the task of assigning other station's personnel to our fleet and making sure that the city had it's minimum staffing requirements. How did she expect me to do this in a few days?! It wasn't practical. But I was able to push some buttons and make it happen... barely. The only catch was that we had to help them with one of their events that was going on the month after. Four week notice to scratch their back because they were willing to scratch ours? Should be a spendid plan, right? WRONG.
She basically blew up asking how she expected us to find the personnel to help them when we were short staffed ourselves. So basically, I did my job, but it wasn't good enough. So that's when the breakdown happened. I just couldn't take it anymore. I spent the weekend in a state of "recovery mode" and tried to mend my wounds. Thankfully the following week, which happened to be the last week of work before my 3 week vacation, was much easier, and my supervisor actually apologized for being so hard on me! Big surprise, right?
Surprises
That's not all though. Earlier this week, I had to stop by at my work to drop off some sensitive paperwork that I had been hanging on to. And among the hustle and bustle, I got word that my supervisor had been stripped of her position and moved back to the field. WHAAAAAA??? What sucks is that EVERYONE is super-tight-lipped about the whole situation and wouldn't tell me anything beyond "you'll find out when you get back". Really? Well apparently it had something to do with some drama between her and the captain of the station. But I'll see what that's all about when I go back to work in another week or so.
CON TIME!!
If you haven't already noticed the location of this post, I'm currently sitting in an airport in what's actually Kentucky, on my way to my first out-of-state con, Fur Fright! I'm so excited to meet all of my east coast friends, and I'm hoping that it's going to be an amazing time. I just hope my fursuit makes it there in one piece! Apparently I have nothing to worry about, but I worry about my precious belongings when they're not in my immediate view, you know?
I'll try to update while I'm out here, but knowing how busy the weekend's going to be, we might have to wait it's all over...
stress,
work
