Yesterday morning I got up fairly early, even though we had gone for our late night chuar snack. This was my first expedition out of the house without my translating friends.  So I had  that little hurdle to climb to begin with.  But I made it down to the XiaoBA, little van, just fine and off to the main gate.  The main gate drops you off at Luojiashan, aka Plastic Street. Ostensibly today was about lecturing to library school students at Wuhan Daxue about the DC Public Library. That was my big goal for the day, and I feel like I accomplished it with flying colors.  I was unable to get through all of the slides that I had created, but I assumed that would happen. Last night after I posted the last story my friends and I went to the little shop around the corner from the foreign teacher dormitory and bought some snack food.  I bought marinara and red meat flavored potato chips and blueberry flavored potato chips as well as a plum tea and some kind of peanuts that I couldn't figure out what the flavor was.   ( Read more... )

Yesterday was my last official day in Tokyo and immediately after I posted my last update I had to download some pictures for about an hour and then jump on the train to Narita.  I had completely forgotten where the train was supposed to connect to take the local train to the airport (Aoto), and thus wound up transferring too early and getting on ( Read more... )
